The downtown of Indianapolis, Indiana, is having an ongoing makeover. New restaurants, new hotels, a new library, an expanding convention center and a state-of-the-art arenas have made Indy a great place to spend a long week vacation or for  a short weekend get away..

White RiverState Park is one of the must see places when visiting. This place ranks among the most impressive attractions. White RiverGardens, the IndianaStateMuseum, the Indianapolis Zoo and the Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art are all right in the area in and around the park.

Other places you will want to visit are American Legion National Headquarters, CrownHillCemetery, James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home, Lockerbie Square, MadameWalkerTheaterCenter, Morris-Butler Home, Obelisk Square, President Benjamin Harrison Home, and the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

Children's Museum offers a variety of interactive activities folks of all ages. . the CineDome which gives viewers the sensation of experiencing what is on the screen. live performances throughout the museum, and the invitation to dig in with both hands, touch and feel the exhibits make this a place your children will not be bored at.

Indianapolis is home to a museum of Indian and western art. The Eteljorg displays the art of both the American Indians and the culture of the western states. It is one of only two museums of this type east of the Mississippi.

The IndianaMedicalArtsMuseum is located inside the oldest pathology facility in America. Hook’s DrugstoreMuseum walks visitors through the history of drugstores in America.

The NCAA Hall of Champions recognizes student athletes and provides an in-depth history of amateur athletic achievement.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Hall of Fame Museum is an Indy must see. You ride on the speedway, trace racing history back to its beginning and see the actual car that won the first in 1911.

the AmericanSuperHeroesMuseum, a creation of Dane Nash, is located in downtown Indianapolis. You can see Batman's bat boat, comics, and relics

 

The downtown area of nearly every major city is known for great food. There was a period where downtown areas were run down and few people ate at retardants in the evenings. money put into downtown areas and the revival has led to great food This is true in Indy as well.

 Palomino Euro Bistro (expensive)-- good located at Circle Centre Mall, near the Convention Center and RCA Dome. The food, wine and bar  are some of the best in the city.

 Ruth's Chris Steakhouse (expensive)—This restaurant is becoming known as the best place to get a top notch steak in the city.

California  Cafe (expensive)--This restaurant is in Circle Centre. It is known for it’s trendy west coast gourmet cuisine..

St. Elmo's (expensive)—St. Elmo’s is an Indianapolis intuition. This is    the place for good steak and a Scotch.

Alcatraz Brewery, Hard Rock Cafe, Houlihans
